Therapeutic Equestrian Activity Center for the Handicapped
To provide Therapeutic Horsemanship which will improve the physical, mantal, and social abilities of children with special needs, by encouraging them to participate in the widest range of activities of which they are capable, so that they may acheive their highest level of independence and freedom.Therapeutic Riding: How It Works

Horses and humans have surprisingly similar strides. We have the same number of steps per minute, comparable stride lengths, and the same hip rotation while walking. These similarities allow the therapeutic TEACH horses to facilitate the motion of the human stride for our riders. The benefits to our students include improved joint mobility, better balance, and increased coordination. Without conscious effort, our riders are treated to a proven therapy that is both fun and rewarding, while they gain confidence and achieve health and fitness goals.
The needs of each student are carefully considered when we assemble a personal therapeutic team. Each team includes the horse, instructor, and volunteers, and all work together in order to maximize the benefits of each lesson. Our certified instructors and trained volunteers treat each rider with respect and value the relationship between each member of our TEACH family. Learn How

Dusty's Testimonial - March 21, 2011
Dear T.E.A.C.H.,
I just wanted to let you know how your therapeutic riding program has positively affected my son, Dusty. Autism in general is complicated, so I just want to mention a couple things that have greatly improved with Dusty since he started riding in your program:
1. BONDING: My son has bonded with Jake, the horse he rides at your center. He knows his name and he loves being on him. He brought a picture of himself riding on Jake to show his classmates. His teacher enlarged the picture and now it is on the classroom door and all the kids talk about Dusty and his horse, Jake.
2. IMPULSE CONTROL: Dusty is calm, poised, and grounded while sitting on and riding Jake. It seems like the horse exudes a certain calmness that Dusty can feel. I am so Thankful you have this program and also that it is so affordable. Autism is so costly to manage and it's nice to get a break now and then. ~ Rose & Dusty
